If you are looking for cnc coolant filter paper, machine coolant filter paper, metalworking coolant filter paper or cutting fluid filter paper, you are in the right category. Those four search terms describe the same job: continuous filtration of a fluid that goes back into the process.
It is worth clearing this up before the comparison table, because the naming causes more wrong orders than the technical data does.
Machine documentation and most enquiries say paper. Filter paper in the strict sense is cellulose, formed into a web in a wet process. What we supply are nonwovens: fibres bonded mechanically, chemically or thermally, without the papermaking stage. Polypropylene and polyester can be processed into a nonwoven but not into paper at all.
Both web materials are used in belt filter systems and both run on the same machines, which is why coolant filter paper rolls, coolant filter media rolls and filter fleece rolls are used interchangeably in the trade. We use all three words on this site. Only one of them belongs in a material specification, and that is neither: the material line says polypropylene, viscose or polyester.
One more caution in the other direction. Coolant filter fleece and belt filter fleece roll are precise enough in an industrial context. Filter fleece on its own is not: in English it more often means an aquarium filter pad. Wherever the word appears on our pages, it carries coolant, belt filter or machining with it.
We supply the consumable roll. We do not supply the machine.
A paper band filter, a paper belt filter and a paper band filtration system are complete units with a tank, a pump, a belt drive and a control system. If you need one of those, your system manufacturer is the right address. If you have one and need a filter roll for belt filter operation, that is what this category is for.
The distinction matters commercially as well as technically. Paper band filter media and paper band filter paper are consumables with a defined width, a defined running length and a defined core. They have to match the machine, not the other way round.

Read the second and fourth rows together. The V30 weighs half as much again as the P20 and is still thinner, 0.25 against 0.27 millimetres, because chemically bonded viscose is built more compactly than a polypropylene spunbond. And the P150 is not simply a heavier version of the same idea: at 1.31 millimetres, with a different raw material and a different bonding, it is a different class of material.
The roll length row is the one buyers most often miss. The polyester media comes on 50 metre rolls rather than 100, because at around four times the thickness, less running length fits on the core at a comparable roll outside diameter. Calculate in metres, not in rolls.
The number in front of „gsm" describes how much fibre mass sits on a square metre. It is a material figure and nothing else.
It is not a filtration rating. No micron value can be derived from 20, 30, 50 or 150 gsm. What a media actually separates in service arises from fibre structure, particle size distribution, solids concentration, belt speed and above all from the filter cake that builds up while the machine runs. That cake is the real filter: freshly indexed media lets more through than media that already carries a layer. Every data sheet in this family carries that note, and it is the reason a trial roll answers questions no specification can.
It is not a thickness either, as the comparison of the P20 and the V30 above shows.
What fabric weight does do is rank qualities within one material family. The V30 and the V50 are the same raw material with the same bonding, so 30 against 50 gsm is a meaningful comparison. Across material boundaries it is not.
Four figures stand next to each other in the table above, and the temptation to sort them is obvious. It leads the wrong way.
The P20 and the P150 were tested to DIN 53887. The V30 and the V50 were tested to DIN EN 9237 at 2 millibar. Different methods with different pressure differentials produce numbers that are not on the same scale. Only V30 against V50 and P20 against P150 can be compared directly.
And in no case is an air figure a liquid throughput. Air and coolant behave differently in a nonwoven, if only because of viscosity and wetting.
Five measurements settle it, and taking them once saves every future order.
Roll width, measured across the running direction. Running length. Core diameter, measured inside the empty core. The maximum roll outside diameter that fits in the machine’s magazine, which is the value most often forgotten. And the unwind direction.
If you are replacing an existing roll and do not know the quality, a photograph of the roll label plus a sample piece of around half a metre is usually enough for us to place the material, the bonding and the fabric weight. The standard widths are 500, 710 and 1.000 millimetres: a 500mm coolant filter roll, a 710mm coolant filter roll and a 1000mm coolant filter roll, each supplied in the pack quantity shown on the product page.
Widths outside those three we check on request, together with the minimum quantity and availability. For contoured cut parts rather than roll stock, we cut technical textiles by laser.
Buyers searching for coolant filter paper roll manufacturers or a coolant filter paper roll supplier usually want to know two things: who actually makes the material, and who can be reached when something is unclear.

An industrial filter paper roll is rarely bought on price alone. It is bought once and then reordered for years, which makes the width, the core and the material more important than the first invoice.
A nonwoven. The trade calls it coolant filter paper, and it runs on the same belt filters as paper media, but the material is polypropylene, viscose or polyester. A non woven filter paper roll is exactly what you receive.
Within one material family it suggests higher retention, but it does not guarantee a cut-off. Across material boundaries the comparison does not hold at all.
Roll width, running length, core diameter, maximum roll outside diameter, unwind direction, the machine manufacturer, the fluid in use and the type of contamination. A photograph of the roll label and a sample piece speed the whole thing up considerably.
Polypropylene and viscose behave differently towards process media. Which material suits your fluid depends on composition, concentration, temperature and contact time, and is assessed case by case. We do not give a blanket resistance statement for either.
For coolant in machining, the V30 at 30 gsm is the usual starting point. For grinding with fine sludge, the P150. If the fluid argues for polypropylene, the P20. The V50 is the step up from the V30 when more fines are getting through.
