All three products in this category join something. What separates them is whether the join can be undone.
A tie is closed and can be opened again. A cord is knotted and can be untied. A seam is permanent; undoing it means unpicking it.
Answer that question first and the choice in this category is largely made. Everything after it is a matter of dimensions: bundle diameter for the tie, diameter and load for the cord, base material and needle for the thread. As textile fastening components the three complement each other rather than replacing each other.

The red releasable ties are made from polyethylene, are 120 mm long and open again after closing. Unlike a conventional single-use cable tie they do not have to be cut to release them.
The version offered has a 3.5 mm profile and closes around a bundle diameter of up to 27 mm. The stated pull-out force is 13 daN. That figure describes a product property. It is not a general load rating and not a release for safety-relevant fastenings.
One confirmed application is fastening suitable filter cloths to filter presses. The tie is passed through the fastening points provided and closed. Before use, check that length, bundle diameter and holding force suit the particular filter plate.
If a tie is to be reused, look at the latch and the material first. A tie that is damaged, clearly deformed or no longer holding reliably gets replaced.
Polypropylene cord, PP cord, polypropylene braided rope and pp braided rope are all used for similar products in the market. What is offered here is specifically a 5 mm, 16-strand round braided cord in 100 % polypropylene multifilament.
It is supplied on a 500 m roll and in no other form. White, blue, yellow, green, red and black are available, and the colour is commonly used to tell materials, plant areas or operational assignments apart.
The cord is UV-stabilised and floats. The manufacturer gives a breaking force of approximately 3 to 4.5 kN. The recommended maximum working load is stated as approximately 60 to 90 kg on the basis of a 5:1 safety factor.
Breaking force and working load are not an approval as lifting or securing equipment. Knots, tight deflections, abrasion, ageing and dynamic loading all change the strength you can actually use. This cord is not intended for lifting people or for overhead lifting operations, and it is not a certified climbing, rigging, lashing or fall-protection product.
The industrial sewing thread offered here is made from high-tenacity polypropylene and constructed as Nm 40x3. It is a candidate for industrial sewing work and for making and repairing suitable technical textiles.
In filtration the PP thread can be used on filter bags, filter cloths and filter socks, provided thread, base material and operating conditions match. The manufacturer gives a breaking force of approximately 45.20 N and an elongation at break of 25 to 35 %. Recommended needles are Nm 90 to 120.
A load-bearing seam does not come from a high breaking force alone. Material thickness, machine, needle, stitch length, stitch type, thread tension and the distance from the stitches to the edge of the material matter just as much. The breaking force of the thread must not be read directly as the strength or the tightness of the finished seam.
Before series production, or for thermally, chemically or mechanically demanding applications, sew a sample seam under conditions as close to real as possible and test it.
Each of the three products has clearly documented properties. A single value does not automatically answer whether the product suits a particular installation.
With the ties, bundle diameter, direction of pull and temperature are the points to watch. With the cord, knots, abrasion, deflections and the type of loading come on top. With the sewing thread it is the combination of thread, textile base material, machine and seam construction that decides.
Where loads are higher, movement is repeated, process media are involved or temperatures are elevated, the selection should not rest on the product name or the material alone.
Releasable ties suit compact fastenings that have to be opened again. The PP braided cord is for tying, bundling or fastening over greater lengths. Industrial sewing thread is the right group when suitable technical textiles have to be sewn or existing seams reworked.

The latch is releasable. The tie can be opened and closed again as long as the material and the latch are undamaged and still hold well enough for the job. Unlimited reuse and unchanged holding force after any number of openings are not promised.
