Drain Basket B1 Retention System for Plastic Pellets – 70 µm Complete Set

Standards-Compliant Pellet Retention for Shallow Road Drains (DIN 4052)

Industrial outdoor areas with limited construction depth often use shallow catch basins. Our drain basket set B1 with a 70 µm micron rating is built exactly for these requirements. It lets industrial operators retrofit their drainage in a legally compliant way under EU Regulation 2025/2365, without any structural changes to existing installations. This specialised plastic pellet retention system protects your site against microplastic emissions.

The system is designed for high-traffic paved areas in the plastics-processing industry. Wherever pellets or regrind are loaded, the B1 drain basket serves as the last mechanical barrier before the sewer and is a key component for Operation Clean Sweep audits. It offers maximum security particularly in Transport & Logistics and Chemicals & Raw Materials.

Built for Shallow Installation Depths

Model B1, built to DIN 4052, is used wherever site conditions don't allow for a deep shaft. It's a proven component for infrastructure projects in Civil Engineering & Landscaping as well as Energy & the Environment:

  • Shallow road drains on logistics and loading areas
  • Car park drainage in industrial settings
  • Access roads to silo systems
  • Drainage of yard areas with limited shaft depth

No Bypass Risk Thanks to Winkler Fixing Technology

Conventional filter solutions often let particles pass around the edge. Our B1 system eliminates this risk with a mechanical forced-flow design for the water:

  1. Dimensionally stable design: The 70 µm fabric is engineered to make full use of the B1 bucket's shallow shape.
  2. Precision-fit filter collar: The filter fits over the rim of the galvanised bucket, creating a flush sealing surface.
  3. Secured with a drawstring: An industrial drawstring holds the filter permanently in place. Since we don't use an emergency overflow, the protective function stays 100% intact even during sudden heavy inflow (heavy rainfall).

FAQ – Drain Basket B1 Pellet Retention System 70 µm

Answers on securing shallow road drains under EU environmental requirements.

What is the difference between the slotted bucket A4 and B1?

+
Both models have an upper diameter of approximately 450 mm for standard road gullies. The main difference lies in their depth: the B1 is the shallow version (Type B according to DIN 4052) for gullies with low installation depth, while the A4 is the deep version (Type A) for deep shafts.

Can I use the B1 set in busy areas as well?

+
Yes, the slotted bucket itself is made of robust galvanized material and sits securely in the gully under the cover (cast grate). The filter system is designed for mechanical stress in industrial everyday use, provided that the manhole cover meets the appropriate load class for traffic.

How safe is the 70 µm filtration during heavy rain?

+
Despite its fine mesh size, the high-performance fabric offers high hydraulic permeability. By deliberately omitting a bypass (emergency overflow), we guarantee that no granules "slip through" into the sewer system, even with increased water flow. Retention security takes precedence over maximum flow here.

How often does the filter in the B1 bucket need to be cleaned?

+
The cleaning interval depends heavily on local dust and pellet loads. We recommend a monthly visual check. Since the B1 bucket is shallower than the A4, its debris capacity is somewhat lower, which may call for shorter intervals under extremely high loads.

Does the system comply with the requirements of Operation Clean Sweep (OCS)?

+
Absolutely. Installing technical barriers at drains is a core requirement of OCS. With a 70 µm micron rating, you often exceed standard requirements and can demonstrate a highly effective solution against microplastic loss during audits.
