Replacement filter insert for pellet retention systems, 70 µm

The part that gets changed

In a pellet retention system the bucket is permanent and the textile insert is the consumable. This page sells the insert on its own, for two situations: routine replacement in a system that is already in service, and retrofitting where suitable buckets are already on site.

The bucket is not included. If you are starting from nothing, the complete sets are the place to begin.

Which version fits which bucket

Inserts are made to match specific bucket forms. Ordering is by form, not by dimension.

Insert versionFitsBucket dimensions
Yard gullyyard gully bucketØ 260 mm × 250 mm
B1slotted bucket B1Ø 305 mm × 250 mm
D1slotted bucket D1Ø 395 mm × 325 mm
C3slotted bucket C3Ø 395 mm × 575 mm
A4slotted bucket A4Ø 385 mm × 600 mm

Retrofitting existing buckets, and the honest limit

The obvious question from a site that already has slotted buckets is whether these inserts will fit them. Sometimes yes, and it depends on the bucket rather than on goodwill.

The insert is pulled over the bucket opening and fixed to the body, so what matters is the opening diameter, the height and how the rim is formed. Buckets from other manufacturers vary in all three. There is no universal fit, and we would rather say that here than send an insert that does not seat properly. A poorly seated insert is worse than none, because material passes around it while the site believes it is being retained.

Send us the opening diameter, the height and a photograph of the rim, and we will tell you whether one of the standard versions fits or whether we make it to your dimensions.

When to change the insert

On condition rather than on a calendar. Three indicators, any one of which is enough:

Water visibly stands in the bucket after an event that would previously have drained

The textile is damaged, has an open seam or has come away from its fixing at any point

Retained material has reached a level where the insert can no longer take the inflow evenly

The second one is the one to take seriously. A torn insert keeps looking like a working system while retaining nothing.

Regulatory context. EU Regulation 2025/2365 sets obligations for operators handling plastic pellets, and Operation Clean Sweep is a voluntary industry programme. A retention system can support the measures a site puts in place. It does not, on its own, make a site compliant with either, and WINKLER does not certify compliance. What a scheme achieves depends on the full set of measures, the maintenance regime and the documentation behind it. Background is set out in the guide.

Questions about the replacement insert

Will it fit a bucket from another manufacturer?

Possibly, and only after checking. Send the opening diameter, the height and a photograph of the rim.

Is the bucket included?

No. This page is the insert only. Complete sets are listed in the retention systems collection.

Can the insert be washed and reused?

It is planned as a consumable. Pellets can often be tipped out, but the fine material sits in the textile structure and does not clean back out.

How many should I keep in stock?

Enough that a damaged insert can be replaced the same day. A system that waits a fortnight for a spare is a system that is not retaining anything during that fortnight.
