A low-profile sludge dewatering bag just 0.40 metres tall

This custom version belongs to the F-BAG range of free-standing sludge dewatering bags and uses the same filter material as the standard sizes M to XXL. It is 0.40 metres tall, which is less than half the height of the smallest standard size and the reason the version exists at all. The base area is 0.99 by 0.60 metres and the working load is 400 kg.

The shape came out of a specific customer requirement. Because the same installation situation kept coming back, it is now orderable directly rather than only on request.

Chambers, pits and shallow trays: where a low-profile bag is needed

Chambers and inspection pits with a fixed cover height. A bag for a chamber has to sit below the cover, otherwise the chamber cannot be closed again.

Existing trays, channels and catch basins. Often the footprint is there but the height is limited by an edge, a grating or an overflow.

Plant with a fixed frame. A bag for existing equipment has to fit the frame rather than the other way round. Once the frame is in place the internal dimension is not negotiable. A standard bag that is too tall cannot simply be folded down, because filter area is lost and the cake builds unevenly. For comparison, the smallest standard size stands 0.50 m tall.

Workstations with limited reach. Where filling happens by hand, a low top edge is simply easier to work with.

What you receive and what to check before ordering

You receive one bag in the dimensions stated, with strap loops standing 280 millimetres proud and a working load of 400 kg. It is a single-use product.

Two things are worth checking first. The clear internal dimension of your holder should be a little larger than 0.99 by 0.60 metres so the bag does not sit under tension. And the mass you expect: with a low-profile shape the geometric volume is limited, but a heavy mineral sludge can still reach 400 kg. The size guide shows how to run that calculation.

Custom sludge filter bags made to your measurements

If none of the standard sizes fits your installation, we make bags to your dimensions. A custom sludge dewatering bag is routine work for us rather than an exception. Whether it is a custom sludge filter bag for a chamber, a made to measure filter bag for a shallow tray or a bag for an existing industrial frame, the material is the same as in the standard sizes and only the cutting pattern changes. Cutting and sewing are done in our own workroom in Werther, Germany. We can work from a drawing, a DXF file, a dimensioned photograph of the installation or an existing bag as a sample.

For a firm quotation we need:

The clear internal dimensions of the holder: length, width and usable height

How the bag is filled: from above, from the side, by pipe, hose or pump

The expected mass of the dewatered contents, which gives us the working load rating

The type of sludge, with solids content, particle or floc size, pH value, temperature and any additives

The quantity you need and whether this is a one-off or a recurring order

How the filled bag is removed: crane, forklift or by hand

The more precise those details are, the faster a binding answer comes back. For unusual shapes and cut-outs we cut the pattern on our laser system, which allows complex contours without frayed edges.

How flat can a filter bag be made?

The limit going down is practical rather than technical: below a certain height the usable fill depth becomes so small that the changeover effort outweighs the benefit. What makes sense in your case is something we work out from the dimensions and the batch quantity.

Does a low-profile bag dewater less well?

The material is identical and the ratio of filter area to volume is actually more favourable. What changes is the hydrostatic head: with a low bag there is less water standing above the filter area, which affects the initial flow. In practice that counts for little next to the type of sludge and the way the cake builds.

Can other materials be used?

For sludge dewatering, the 200 g/m² geotextile is the standard specification. Where you have different requirements for fineness, strength or media resistance, we assess the right material case by case.

What quantity makes a custom bag worthwhile?

We make single pieces as well. It becomes commercially more attractive from small batches upwards, because cutting and set-up are one-off costs. Tell us what you expect to need over the next twelve months and we will price it accordingly.
